Trees (and all of biology) do the same thing actually. The reason tall trees exist is an arms race for sunlight.

I actually had this feeling the other day in a rental car that was managing cruise control through a traffic jam. If the car can't find the car in front of it... how is that my fault? The answer of course is that I'm supposed to be the one driving.

PS I drive a Tesla and I use this so-called "Full Self Driving" and it's fabulous. Until, very occasionally, it isn't.
